The Haunted Bridge: Mary Daniel

Mary Daniel Bridge: Urban legend or real life tragedy? The story of the haunting varies, but always includes much of the same phenomena that you hear in common urban legends.

The spooky tale always states "if you want a real ghost experience go to Mary Daniel Bridge." (A dirt road off of Mothershed Road.) According to legend, it was around 1911 when Mary was traveling down the road and she started across the bridge, which was wooden at the time. She was rumored to be a witch, and the story goes that as she and her daughter crossed the bridge they somehow fell off into the creek and the baby drowned. The stories of what happened to Mary after this horrific accident vary but one claims the husband hanged Mary off the bridge out of sorrow and anger. The baby is supposed to be buried 100 yards from the bridge in a small graveyard.
